Grouping:
Initially, students are grouped by age. Ultimately, all students
are grouped
by their skill level. Students are classified - as evaluated by
P.B.I. staff members - as follows:
Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced
HITTING |
Take
a look at any Major League team and you will probably see a wide variety
of hitting styles. There really is no one specific way to hit. Some
hitters use more of a rotational style than others; some hitters favor
a more linear approach. At P.B.I. we break down the hitting mechanics
step-by-step. P.B.I. uses the latest, most effective hitting products
available in our hitting stations. Over a dozen hitting stations are
set up; each station emphasizes a different facet of the swing mechanics.
Our hitting stations, when performed properly, create positive muscle
memory, effectively replacing poor habits with good habits. Batting
cages are set up and all students hit live pitching. Our
hitting program has been designed with the help of current
Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle and has been recognized
as 5 STAR by former San Francisco Giants Manager Felipe
Alou. |
PITCHING |
P.B.I.
knows pitching! We have one of the finest pitching programs
in the nation and by far the best in N.J.!! Our innovative
"Building Blocks" teaching program will have your
child throwing strikes consistently. We build confidence
and sharpen the mental focus to a fine point. Pitching topics
include: mechanics, pitch grips, mental game, fielding,
back-ups, live throwing & much more. P.B.I.'s pitching
programs are designed with the help of former Major League
pitching coach Leo Mazzone. Remember, "90%
of the game is pitching." |
INFIELD |
P.B.I.
understands the #1 goal of an infielder is to establish
quick, soft hands. Our extremely qualified infield staff
with 23 years pro playing experience will bring your child
on an incredible journey "around the horn," teaching
all the secrets of infield play along the way. Topics include:
fielding mechanics, footwork, throwing mechanics, cut-offs
& relays, double plays, being ready, and much more. Phillies
first base coach Sam Perlozzo constantly keeps P.B.I. on the
cutting edge of training for fielders. |
CATCHING |
This
is the most demanding position on the field. P.B.I. knows
this and has a program tailored by pro catchers like former Major League catcher
Todd Hundley to help teach the youth of America. To be a catcher requires skill
and courage, so it's important to learn the position the
correct way. Topics include: receiving, throwing, footwork
and mechanics, blocking balls, taking charge, and much more. |
OUTFIELD |
Proper
technique is crucial to being an outfielder. Our professional
staff will teach the techniques of solid outfield play.
With outfield mentors such as Larry Walker, Jeremy Burnitz,
Marquis Grissom and Steve Finley, it's crystal clear why
P.B.I. is #1 in New Jersey. Topics include: fly balls, ground
balls, angles, throwing, footwork, and backing-up. |
BASERUNNING |
A
team with good baserunning skills is always a threat. Once
again, our experience as professional players gives us the
advantage. Learning baserunning skills from former greats
Tommy Harper, Mickey Rivers and Willie Randolph as well
as current greats Craig Biggio, Steve Finley and Jeremy
Burnitz has helped make P.B.I. the best baseball training
program in the State! |
SLIDING |
Studies
indicate that most injuries on the baseball field occur
while sliding!! These injuries can be easily avoided. Once
again, P.B.I.'s professional staff has the experience. We
have learned from the best; now let us teach your children
the proper sliding techniques. The patented Slide-Rite makes
learning to slide safe, fun and easy. |
