PBI Pro Tips #14 – Multipurpose Base Running Drill

Have trouble with your base runners taking things one base at a time? Do your batters stop on first base without running through the bag? Do runners on third leave too early on fly balls to the outfield that are caught?

Here’s a great drill that helps players get into a two-bases-at-a-time mindset, works on making sure your hitters run all the way through the bag at first, reinforces proper form on tagging up from third base. And among the other benefits – it gets five players at a time moving at once.

You can do this drill as part of your pre-practice (or pre-game) warmup, post-game conditioning, or just make it a station in one of your practices. This can be used with players of all ages.
