PBI ANNOUNCES FREE PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT SEMINAR

There is more to being a successful baseball player than just working on your baseball skills. Our goal is to teach you how to be a "complete player" and exceed the expectations you have for yourself.

On October 23, 2012 Professional Baseball Instruction will introduce our new Baseball Health Network (BHN) by hosting a FREE presentation comprised of various professionals who specialize in sports performance and enhancement. We will be covering topics in the fields of sports psychology, sports nutrition, throwing arm injuries, and strength and conditioning.

The seminar will be hosted by PBI president and owner Doug Cinnella and Baseball Health Network founder Steve Hayward. Guest speakers will include Dr. Christopher Ahmad, Dr. Vic Namouv, and Dr. Dave Pilchman.



DOUG CINNELLA
Doug Cinnella
Currently scouting for the Cincinnati Reds. Veteran of 9 professional seasons. Participated in Major League spring training with both the N.Y. Mets (1993) and the N.Y. Yankees (1995). Doug has pitched over 1,000 career innings as a professional with an ERA of 3.17. Selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 3rd round of the 1986 Major League draft, he was the 97th player picked in the nation! Voted the NY-Penn League MVP in 1986. Doug established a NY-Penn League record in 1986 by pitching 2 no-hitters, a record which still stands today. After being traded to the Montreal Expos in 1988, Doug made the 1988 Florida State League All-Star team. He was also chosen as the Topps Player of the Month for May 1988. His manager while playing for the Expos was Felipe Alou. Doug credits much of his coaching techniques to Felipe. After becoming a free agent in 1990, Doug signed with the N.Y. Mets. He played as a player/coach in Double-A with the Mets until he was promoted to AAA Tidewater. Played in Tidewater for 2 seasons. Played college ball at Seton Hall, was selected as New Jersey's college MVP for 1984. Holds SHU pitching record for most strikeouts in a game (17 in 7 innings). Doug played High School baseball for Paramus where he was an All-League, All-County and All-State player. Doug also serves as fellow-PBI coach Jeff Remo's pitching coach at Mahwah High School.

STEVE HAYWARD
Steve Hayward
Steve Hayward grew up in Washington Township, NJ. and attended St Joseph's Regional High School in Montvale where he played football and baseball. In his junior year he was voted most valuable player of the football state championship and the Bergen County Baseball Tournament.

After high school, Steve accepted a full baseball scholarship to Seton Hall University and in 1992 he pitched for the Cape Cod League Champion Chatham A's. In 1993, Steve was selected as a 1st Team All-Big East pitcher, 1st Team All-State Pitcher and was drafted by the Boston Red Sox. After pitching professionally for 5 seasons, he joined Professional Baseball Instruction and has been training youth, college and professional pitchers for over 15 years. Steve also coached baseball at St Joe's HS for 13 years and was the head coach at Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey for 2 seasons. He is an expert on biomechanics and throwing arm injuries. Steve, along with current Yankees team physician Christopher Ahmad has lectured and educated doctors, physical therapists, athletic trainers and coaches on those very topics. Steve has been rehabilitating players from various throwing arm injuries and surgeries for the past 10 years.

Steve is also an associate of the Mid-Atlantic regional scout for the Tampa Bay Rays.

DR. CHRISTOPHER AHMAD
Dr. Christopher Ahmad
Christopher S. Ahmad, MD, specializes in shoulder instability and labral tears, rotator cuff pathology, ACL injuries, Tommy John surgery, and advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques for sports-related injuries of the knee, shoulder and elbow. He is the Head Team Physician for the New York Yankees and a member of the Major League Baseball Team Physicians Association. He is also Head Team Physician for the 17 varsity teams fielded by the City College of New York as well as for several high schools in Manhattan and New Jersey. In addition, Dr. Ahmad serves as a consultant to local metropolitan gymnastics and swim teams.

A recipient of several awards for outstanding research in the field of Sports Medicine, Dr. Ahmad conducts ongoing research in the areas of biomechanics of the elbow, ACL injury prevention and screening, and surgical techniques for rotator cuff repair.

DR. DAVE PILCHMAN
Dr. Dave Pilchman
As a sport psychologist, Dr. David Pilchman is committed to bringing "values based" performance excellence to athletes and teams of all levels. His work with professional, college, high school, and junior competitors assists them in achieving full potential Dr. Dave instructs individual athletes in the mental skills necessary to establish peak performance. These include confidence building, thriving on the pressure of competition, focus control, and managing emotions effectively.

Dr. Dave has been credited with being an instrumental part of numerous team successes. New Jersey area colleges have included Rutgers University, The College of New Jersey, Princeton University, Seton Hall University, Monmouth University, and Farleigh Dickinson University.

DR. VIC NAUMOV
Dr. Vic Naumov
Known nationally as "America's Human Performance Doctor," Dr. Victor Naumov owns Naumov Chiropractic Health Center in New Milford, NJ, and also specializes in sports nutrition. He holds a Chiropractic Sports Medicine Specialist Certification and is certified to perform Electro-Diagnosis (NCV & EMG). His C.C.S.M.S. credentials were awarded by Texas Chiropractic College. His Electro-Diagnosis certifications were awarded by the American Academy of Manual & Physical Medicine and Bridgeport Chiropractic College.

As the Founder & President of the 501(c)3 non-profit organization, The National Coalition for the Advancement of Drug-Free Athletics, Inc.(NCADFA) and creator of their national Choose NOT to Use(R) Educational Out-reach Campaign, Dr. Naumov is regarded as one of the nation's leading advocates for drug-free athletics in all sports. He has lectured nationally, been published in numerous journals and has appeared on countless television and radio programs addessing the topic of "Natural Human Performance & Recovery."

Fall may have just begun, but we're already looking forward to spring 2013 for Eagles baseball! Tryouts for all our teams between the ages of 8 and 14 will be held at PBI's indoor training facility in Upper Saddle River during the month of November. Please note that league age for spring 2013 play is the player's age as of April 30, 2013. YANKEE 2B ROBINSON CANO APPEARS AT PBI CAMP IN RIDGEFIELD PARK!

New York Yankees 2nd baseman Robinson Cano, and his Dad former MLB pitcher Jose Cano, joined Professional Baseball Instruction on June 28th at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park. Robinson and Jose chatted with the PBI players and coaches, answered questions, and signed autographs. There are more pictures on the PBI facebook page.




Professional Baseball Instruction NEW Pre-Season Winter Training Programs

Professional Baseball Instruction has two innovative programs available for winter 2012. PBI’s “Pre-Season Winter Training Program” is the most intense and thorough off- season training program available for 8, 9 & 10 year old baseball players who are playing on the Little League-sized 46/60 field. The PSWTP is a version of PBI’s acclaimed High School, Senior & Junior Winter Training Programs customized towards the needs of Little League and youth players. PBI will prepare you for your upcoming season just as the pros do through our “spring training” approach. The program consists of 1 workout per week for the months of February and March bringing you to the doorstep of the 2012 baseball season. Click here for complete information.

In addition, PBI’s “Middle School Winter Training Program” is the most intense and thorough off-season training program available for baseball players in the 6th, 7th & 8th grades who are playing on the high school-sized 60/90 field or intermediate sized 50/70 field. The MSWTP is a version of PBI’s acclaimed High School, Senior & Junior Winter Training Programs concentrated into one action-packed month of workouts. The MSWTP is designed to give you a head start prior to your pre-season practices with your Middle School or travel team. PBI will prepare you for your upcoming season just as the pros do through our “spring training” approach. You come to two 2-hour workout sessions per week during the month of March.     SHOWCASE FOR TOP HIGH SCHOOL & JUCO PITCHERS AND CATCHERS

    Each November Professional Baseball Instruction invites college coaches, recruiters and professional scouts from around the area to come watch the area's top pitching and catching prospects work out in our state-of-the-art facility. The date for our 2012 event is tentatively set early November. For complete details and a registration form, click here.




    EAGLES BASEBALL ASSOCIATION TRAVEL TEAMS - The Eagles are a group of teams managed exclusively by PBI's professional coaches! The Eagles play in the PBI Baseball League directed by PBI at 8 age levels: 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U and high school. Spring, summer and fall teams are available for all 8 age levels. Each spring and fall season has approximately an 8-10 game schedule; the summer season consists of a 12-18 game regular season. Each is followed by playoffs and a championship game. Eagles games are played primarily on Sundays throughout the Bergen County area in the spring and fall, and on weeknights during the summer. Practices are held on a weekday at PBI's indoor facility.
